‘The future is for those who prepare for it’ brother Malcolm x taught us. Freedom is never given it is taken; we must seize freedom now. Africa has over the last half of the past millennium, been in the dark. She has wrestled and continuous to wrestle against many negative elements which engulf her, such spiritual fall evident in the moral decay of her society, slavery, conflict-wars, ignorance, poor leadership, poverty & disease just to mention a few, which exist until today. There have been conscious efforts by illustrious sons and daughters of hers, past and present to find solution to the many African problems. Some success has been chopped so far but not to an extent to remedy the problems. The new millennium has presented Africa the perfect opportunity for the up-lifting of her from her woes. Black unity is more pressingly needed now more then it has ever been before. By divine providence what was not acheivable in the past can be acheive in this new millennium only if in unity, Africans plan, prepare and position herself properly in this new Age. The continents of Europe and the Americas have seen their great depression evidence is the recession of their economies visible for all to see. The continent of Asia is now seen as am emerging economic power house, Africa is wallowing behind seen as a Dark Continent .The occurrence of these global events give all the continents a level playing ground by divine providence for the total up lifting of all humanity. Since Africa is the bread basket of the world, if well planned, prepared and positioned she will be able to solve her own problems and rise to her proper position in the world and will gain the respect that’s hers. Hence the theme for 2009, Black unity convention is “REPOSITIONING AFRICA IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM FOR DEVELOPMENTAL TAKE OFF THROUGH BLACK UNITY” This generation has no excuse to fail and if we refuse to cease this opportunity, posterity will judge us. The Black Unity convention 2009 is aimed at launching a fund known as the BLACK UNITY FUND. The fund will be purposely used to champion the processes of promoting black unity as well as up lifting and improving the lives of all people of African descents across the globe. Black unity conventions are platforms for planning black redemptions so don’t miss out on the September 11th, 2009.join the redemptive struggle.

CALL FOR PAPERS

We are inviting and accepting papers and proposals from individuals, scholars, graduate students from any academic discipline. Abstracts for individual papers should be 250-300 words and accompanied by a brief CV (no more than two pages). Panel proposals should include abstracts and CVs for each presenter as well as a 250-500 word overview of the panel. Topics for discussion include but by no means are limited to:

-The role of Spirituality in the transformation of Africa society

-Education as a tool for the liberation of the people of African descents

-The kind of black leadership needed in the new millennium to solve the African problems

-Economic policies which deal with poverty eradification among people of African descents

-Holistic approach to the African health care system through the development and use of indigenous preventive and curative methods for the elimination of diseases.

-Taking a retrospective look at some human rights violation meted against people of African descents during the last millennium past and making sure it never occur to humanity again irrespective of race through race consciousness.

-Finding a lasting solution to conflict-war within the African continent, among and within people of African descent.

The Black Unity Convention 2009 will be held in Accra-Ghana on 11th September, 2009 Selected papers will be published in our journal. The deadline for the submission of individual paper, panel and roundtable proposals is June 7, 2009.
