THE GREATER ACCRA REGION ALL CHILDREN SCHOOL ENROLLMENT PROGRAM
Ghana has 12,130 primary schools, 5450 junior secondary school, 503 senior secondary school. The Greater Accra region is located in the dry southern coastal plain of Ghana. It covers an area of about 3,245 square kilometers and has an estimated population of 2,286,886.The Greater Accra Region is made up of five districts namely Accra metro, Tema and the rural district of Dangme East, Dangme west and Ga west. While the region is the smallest in size of Ghana's ten [10] regions, it has a population of 704.7 person per kilometer as compared to 72.9 persons per square kilometer for the country as a whole. The education sector in the country is undertaking a major changes, this is in accordance with the white paper on the report of the education reform review committee. Implementation is to start in September this year. The president of Ghana on Tuesday, 10th April, 2007 launched the New Educational Reform Program in Accra. This seeks to provide free compulsory basic education for all Ghanaians between the ages of four [4] to sixteen [16] from primary school till completion of high school.
PURPOSE:
GARACSEP is designed to achieve the MDG'S targets which seeks to see to it that all children of school going age are enrolled in schools by 2015, to ensure that every child in Ghana takes advantage of the new educational reform to be impliment from september ,1st starting with the Greater region of Ghana,Eradification of child labour in the Greater Accra region of Ghana by the year 2015,Eradification of poverty in the Greater Accra through sound education,Gender equality and the empowerment of the girl child by eliminating gender disparity in the primary and secondary education by 2009.
Activities and Result:
The central forcus of this program is ensuring that all children of school going age within the five districts of the Greater accra region of Ghana namely Accra Metro,Tema,Ga west,dangme east and dangme west get access to education by 2009.More than 40 million African children, almost half of the continent's primary school-age population, are not in school, according to the UN.Nearly two-thirds of these children are female, which represents a huge drag on development.Recent statistics which was released in Accra shows that about 1.357 million children in Ghana do not go to school, which is the largest quantity of such children in a country, the Education for All [EFA] global monitoring report 2007 pointed out. The United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization [UNICEF] released a report which places Ghana Seventh with 1.357 million out-of-school children among other nations of the world.The UNICEF is currently working closely with International Program for the Elimination of Child labour [IPEC] to deal with the worst forms of child labour. IPEC estimates that there are 800,000 working children in Ghana, out of which 20,000 children live and work on the streets of the Greater Accra.The GARACSEP seeks to expand education opportunity for all children in Ghana starting with the Greater Accra region of Ghana ,which will enable enable the people with in the Greater Accra Region to use and extend their capabilitites, develop skills, improve their livelihoods and increase their earning potential.It will in the long term empower them to participant in decision-making and in the transformation of their lives , society and region.in the short term of one [1] years GARACSEP hopes to provide one thousand [1000] children within the greater Accra region of Ghana the opportunity of education; by providing them with 1000school uniforms and ,20,000exercise books,1000 school bags and 5000 pens , which is their right . It will also provide an antidote to the problem of child labour in this region.

The Black Unity Convention,2008 Ghana ,will be the greatest event recorded in the history of the people of African descent and the world because it marks the age of the end of all the plights of coloured people.Unity is the vehicle that is taking people of african descent to their real and natural home.The time has come now, the days when the prophets and seers wished their eyes would see has come.Don't miss it for it is the greatest marriage ceremony of all people of colour.come be a part ! come be a witness ,This event by divine providence will take place in Ghana from 5-7th of march,2008 at the Teachers Hall Accra-Ghana.Be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
